Crossing the Carnivorous Forest
About
This is not a war between man and machine. This is the fusion of what remains — nature, flesh, code, and myth — into something new. Something sacred. Something dangerous.
When Raine and the survivors of Adoris’s extermination campaign took refuge in the daemon realms, their sanctuaries became prisons. In the years it took to develop new weapons and adapt the previously inhospitable mycelial network to their purposes, Adoris discovered that the killer she had hired to eliminate her sister Glory had failed. Too distracted to notice the revolution starting back up again, she hired a warrior, a giant named Red Clarence, and sent him through the forest to complete the assignment the original assassin had bungled.
Learning of this mission, Raine realized that Glory - the first human to survive the interface – was likely the only person who could claim the title of Operator and stop Adoris from enslaving the trees.
Intercepting the giant is just the first step. Even if they manage to convert the dangerous mercenary to their cause, they still need to find a way to convince a brain-damaged woman whose life they all but destroyed to risk everything in order to help them.
But first things first – she needed to be saved.
Glory couldn’t help them if she died.
